At the shore
in a gas guzzling behemoth
license plate hailing from Connecticut
is a family.
To their right
is a man
with a smile across his face
hysterically responding
to the dance of buffoons.
At the same shore
I sit in my small truck.
To my left a family.
Wildlife watchers
hysterically responding
to the dance of whales.
Grown men and women
like a flock of teenage girls
shrieking in amusement.
I feel smart in my small truck
with my pen
on my own.
